Knight of The Order of The Tower and Sword Gold Star

A Knight of the Order of the Tower and Sword gold star as presented to officers of the British Army for services to Portugal during the Peninsula War. Numerous British officers were awarded the various classes of the Order and were permitted to wear the orders by Prince Regent.
The eight pointed star is topped with a tower and bears the head of Afonso V and is suspended from its original dark blue silk ribbon. . The obverse bears a sword surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves and bears the motto Valor E Lealdade which translates to Valor and loyalty. Unnamed as issued, this order would make a very attractive companion to any Peninsula war group of medals and orders to an eligible officer.
The order is in very good condition.
