7th Queens Own Hussars Sabretache
An Officer’s late Victorian 7th Queens Own Hussars Sabretache comprising a QVC crown over the letters QO representing Queens Own in gold thread on a scarlet melton cloth background. The sabretache is edged in gold lace conforming to the regimental pattern and is topped with three D shaped rings to attach to slings.
The reverse is red morocco leather with a typical flap and pocket combination secured by a gold button. Historically on accession of William IV in 1830 the regiments of light cavalry that bore the designation of Queens mostly adopted the AR cipher of the new queen Adelaide but the 7th Hussars appear to have adopted the monogram QO and this has remained ever since.
Overall the condition of the sabratache is superb with no damage to any of the gold thread work or red melton cloth.
