66th or Berkshire Regiment of Foot Regency Shako Plate

A 66th or Berkshire Regiment of Foot Officer’s 1826 pattern Regency Shako Plate comprising a silver (white metal) eight pointed cut star with battle honors in each arm representing the honors awarded for Peninsula War service. In the center is a gilt voided garter strap with Berkshire and the Arabic numerals for 66 in silver which sit over an engine turned green enamel ground. Above the garter strap is a crown and Peninsula below. A laurel leaf wreath surrounds the strap.
The reverse is age discolored and has a chamfered backing plate that supports the fixing lugs at 9.00 and 3.00 o’clock for attaching the plate to a Regency Shako.
Overall in very nice condition for its age with no damage to the green enamel but showing some mild high point wear to battle honors on the silver star. The gilt remains fresh with minor wear to high points which to be expected.
