4th or Kings Own Regiment of Foot Officers Shoulder Belt Plate

An Officer’s 4th or Kings Own Regiment of Foot shoulder belt plate circa 1815 comprising a small rectangular plate with cut corners, originally gilded but now lacking much of its fire gilt and mounted with a silver (white metal) oval crowned garter within which a lion and Roman numerals for IV are located. The garter is inscribed “The Kings Own Regiment”
The reverse has two hooks and two buttons for attachment to the baldrick buff leather shoulder belt and shows signs of considerable age.
