A 40th or 2nd Somersetshire Regiment of Foot Officer’s Coatee Button
A scarce example of a closed back button from an officer’s full dress coatee circa 1840. Made by Jennens & Co, London. Complete with shank to the reverse and displaying the simple design of an Arabic 40 within a laurel wreath. Average condition with loss of much fire gilt on obverse although the design remains crisp.
